3 Day Breast Cancer Walk San Diego

Komen San Diego Race For The Cure

6,000 people participate in Susan G. Komen More Than Pink Walk

The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure takes place in iconic Balboa Park in downtown San Diego. It brings thousands of walker, joggers and runners together for a memorable day that celebrates the fortitude of breast cancer survivors and thrivers, and honors those lost to the terrible disease. The event is fan friendly and participant friendly, with lots of vendors, live entertainment and tasty food trucks!

The event helps local San Diegans by providing critical services like mammograms, ultrasounds and biopsies, research and education.

Among the highlights of the race is the rare opportunity to walk or run on a historic stretch of 163 Highway including Cabrillo Bridge, a landmark structure built in 1915. Other fun perks include Pups for the Cure, where you register your pooch to walk with you. Theres plenty of spots to pick up your Komen merch, too. We recommend pink!

Get Involved As An Advocate

Being an advocate for breast cancer awareness and research funding is one of the best ways you can make a difference.

Only through government action can we make the broad, systemic and lasting change we need to help us achieve our goal of reducing the current number of breast cancer deaths in the U.S. By mobilizing our communities to take action, we can ensure the voice and needs of those with breast cancer and their loved ones are heard by policymakers and government regulators.

She said about 2,300 people will participate this year, walking an average of 20 miles a day.

This is the 17th year the walk has been held in San Diego, Parker said, and the La Jolla portion of the route really hasnt altered in the last decade or so, taking walkers from north to south with several pit stops to rest, including Torrey Pines State Natural Reserve, Kellogg Park and La Jolla Lutheran Church.

She estimated walkers would be in La Jolla from 8:15 a.m. to about 4 p.m. Nov. 19.

Our event does not require any street closures, nor does it need any no parking areas or traffic mitigation, Parker said. Walkers keep to sidewalks, road shoulders and bike lanes, she said.
