Make Changes To Your Environment
Exposure to environmental toxins and pollutants has been linked to the development of not only breast cancer, but cancer in general. It is difficult to entirely avoid the toxins and chemicals that have become so prevalent in modern society, but there are some steps women can take to reduce their level of exposure. Avoid using commercial weed killers and chemical pesticides, and switch to wholly organic products. Minimize the use of dry cleaning. The chemicals used in the dry cleaning process are highly toxic and full of carcinogens. Use only all natural sun screens when exposed to the elements for long periods of time. Switch to wholly organic household cleaners whenever possible.
Breast cancer prevention should begin early, and mothers should teach their daughters at an early age the basic natural steps that can be taken to make the body inhospitable to cancer cells and tumors. It is impossible to avoid all of the risk factors associated with cancer, but by making some fundamental lifestyle changes, and by embracing a natural approach to their continued health, women can greatly reduce their chances of developing breast cancer.

Estrogen Levels And Their Role In Preventing Breast Cancer
The results of recent research indicate that there is a very strong connection between breast cancer and estrogens. Most women are aware that estrogen is a hormone which is naturally occurring in the body and it can be referred to as natural estrogen but far less known are estrogens which enter the body from the environment, and these are known as environmental estrogen. Both of these forms of estrogen have the ability to adversely affect breast health and therefore regular monitoring of the levels of these estrogens can play a leading part in breast cancer prevention.
Natural Estrogen can be divided into two forms the good and the bad, in this case two metabolites 2-hydroxyestrone and 16-hydroxyestrone. The 2-hydroxyestrone is considered the good estrogen because of the role it plays in preventing cancer. Conversely, the metabolite 16-hydroxyestrone promotes the growth of cancer by stimulating cells to reproduce, including cancerous cells in the breast. For this reason, it is important for a person to know what their ratio is between these two metabolites, so they can take steps to reduce their 16-hydroxyestrone if it is high.

Drinking Water From Plastic Bottles Can Give You Cancer
Plastic bottles are made from many chemicals and some of these, called dioxins, have been found to cause cancer in animal experiments. It is thought that exposing water to the bottles, especially if heated by the sun, can cause the chemicals such as BPA to flow out into the water and increase the risk of cancer. As yet there is no correlation between Breast Cancer and these chemicals in humans. Most one-time bottles used for water do not contain BPA but to be on the safer side, you can opt for bottles labelled BPA-free, or labelled five, four, two or one in the recycling emblem on the bottom. Or better yet, use glass bottles, which are also better for the environment.

Preventive Surgery For Women With Very High Breast Cancer Risk
For the small fraction of women who have a very high risk for breast cancer, such as from a BRCA gene mutation, surgery to remove the breasts may be an option. Another option might be to remove the ovaries, which are the main source of estrogen in the body. While surgery can lower the risk of breast cancer, it cant eliminate it completely, and it can have its own side effects. For more on this topic, see Preventive Surgery to Reduce Breast Cancer Risk.
Before deciding which, if any, of these options might be right for you, talk with your health care provider to understand your risk of breast cancer and how much any of these approaches might affect your risk.

Taking Breast Cancer Prevention Supplements
You may find various dietary supplements such as vitamins, minerals, botanicals, or herbs, and they come in pills, powders, liquids, or tablets. Our team at Breast Care Center Miami may recommend them to fill in the nutritional gaps of their diet.
Its important to keep in mind that breast cancer prevention supplements or other types of supplements do not fully treat, cure, or prevent cancer. That said, some may help in reducing the risk of cancer or assist in recovery.
For example, studies show that the curcumin in tumeric can kill breast cancer cells and those that develop in the prostate or colon.
Furthermore, according to BreastCancer.org, people who have low Vitamin D levels have a higher risk of developing breast cancers. As a result, we recommend patients take 15 micrograms of these breast cancer prevention supplements per day, but they can also add foods rich in vitamin D to their diets, such as fortified milk, fatty fish, and egg yolk.
Dont Wait For Symptoms To Appearget Screened
Screening for breast cancer can seem scary, but the sooner its found, the sooner it can be treated and the better your odds for remission. At age 40, begin getting screened annually.
If you have a personal family history or are at increased risk of breast cancer, all of this could be different for you. Talk to your health care professional about your risk and assess your options together.
